This past Sunday was the last Sunday School class of '07.

WHITE ELEPHANT WIPE OUT: Class members were still recovering Sunday AM from the annual yuletide hair-pulling gift exchange ceremony at the Aguillard woody redoubt outside Frayser. Many a gift were exchanged (and re-exchanged), calories consumed, yarns spun and sides tickled.

MCCORDIC UPDATE: Ross leaves for TEAM headquarters in Wheaton, IL this weak. The family will spend Christmas in Toronto. After Christmas Ross travels to South Africa & Dawn to Florida. Ross will be supervising TEAM missionaries in the Middle East & Africa. Eldest son, Josh is in school at Wheaton. Middle son, Kyle, is a junior at Black Forrest Cake Academy in Germany. He would like to finish his last 2 years of high school there. Youngest son, David, is being home schooled.

Former FEC pastor ROY HENDRICK's mother-in-law is hospitalized on an extended care floor at Methodist Central with terminal cancer.

Former U of M professor and regular FEC High School Sunday School Class mentor, DR CHARLES COUZINS, is having a progressively harder time walking due to a neuropathy.

PAUL PATRICK'S mother broke a bone in her foot and is in a cast.

SARAH HENWOOD's scoliosis is stable and does not require any surgical intervention.

CHRISTMAS CAROLING OUTREACH: Cynthia Collins is organizing a carol outing 5:00 PM 12/22 in a neighborhood of unchurched peoples. If interested, you can contact her at 849-6732.

NOVEL HOLIDAY GIFT IDEA: This year's fashion craze is the resurrected "A-shirt" AKA singlet- or by its colloquial moniker a "Wifebeater." This much maligned sleeveless garment can be easily used by either gender as a bold fashion statement, ladies swim top or simply used as an undergarment to prevent embarrassing sweat stains on costly blouses and shirts. DOGGONED DIRECT: The eye business has been a little slack this fall for Lifebuilder eye dentist DAVID IRVINE. SARAH HENWOOD had a good report from her annual exam at St. Jude. She will need to see an adult specialist regarding her scoliosis. She will be taking her drivers license test this week.

HOME TEAM ADVANTAGE: The FEC INDIA TEAM has returned safely this week.

FEC KATRINA RELIEF TEAM returned from NOLA this Saturday- including 2 major members of the Lance Minor clan.

THANKFUL THANKSGIVING: Mid South International college students will be having Thanksgiving Day meals with FEC parishioners.

CYNTHIA HOLLANDS requests prayer & male fellowship for new believer neighbor "David". She also requests prayer for a neighborhood bible study.

RUSSELL KLINKE confides that he is having trouble sharing his faith outside of church and home. At elder brother Preston's insistence, he completed the EE training course at FEC. Results to date have been mixed. "I just don't like having strangers fill out questionnaire cards on Wednesday night EE visits. It all seems so pointless!" Russell opines. Rollen "Rock 'n Rollen" Stewart, AKA The Rainbow Man, lost out on his last parole board review and will remain in his California prison cell. Russell, a diehard Grizzly fan- and season ticket holder- is considering "standing in" for Rock 'n Rollen Stewart at all televised Grizzly games this season. Why not combine passions. LIFEBUILDER PREMIER NUMISMATIST, TOM PHILLIPS, was out of town for the last two weeks "drilling" for coin and treasure in a deserted ghost town in the wilds of Western South Dakota. After two weeks of hard work, Tom and company repaired to Mitchell, South Dakota to spend some leisure time at the state's world famous "Corn Palace." This colorful convention center, replete with onion domes and minarets, has been standing in Mitchell for over 75 years. Tom noted that: "Mitchell's Corn Palace is built out of reinforced concrete, not corn. Every spring, however, its exterior is completely covered with thousands of bushels of native South Dakota corn, grain and grasses that are arranged into large murals." DENNIS CANTRELL has a Parkinsons-like neurologic problem. The final diagnosis is still pending. Dennis' mother was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. Dennis' sister is also sick.

Please remember BYRON BELL- as well as parents Sammy & Angie. He is still ill.

BOB & DOTTE HOPPE are sick with Dengue Fever. They are convalescing at The Hotel Clark behind the church.

Dr Doktor JIM THORNE requests prayer for daughter Sarah, who is in the hospital.

SARA DORMOIS leaves hearth and home 10/26 for a 3 month out-of-town treatment for Lyme Disease.

DAN MEADOWS has had a prolonged reaction to an antibiotic. He was thought to have Lyme Disease.

DOUG HART of the Christian Psychological Center has an injured back.

MCCORDIC HAPPENINGS: Ross leaves Tuesday (10/2) for Jordan. He will return in November. Dawn and youngest son, David, are staying here in town.

HUNGARIAN IN A HURRY: It's no secret that former FEC Uber Pastor, Ronnie Stevens, has been struggling to develop his Hungarian language skills. The fast pace of pastoring an international church on The Danube leaves precious little time to learn this complex language. On his visits to Memphis, Ronnie has been aided by learning a new phrase each day he is here. When not listening to WCRV, Ronnie catches the Hungarian native Luca Lindner's daily Hungarian phrase on Rock 103's "Dennis & Ric" show in the afternoons. NYNY STREET SCENE: Tom & Lisa Phillips recently returned from a big trip to the Big Apple. Lisa especially enjoyed sampling some of the tasty exotic snacks peddled by NYNY's famous street vendors. "I think these people selling on the streets of New York deserve credit for making our trip much more enjoyable." Opined Lisa. Not to worry!! Street vendors are appreciated indeed. VISITORS: The McWhorters, former Lifebuilders, fresh from retirement, have permanently returned to their Memphis haunts. They have purchased Dottie Graham's home- minus Dottie- of course. He will be working on a degree from DTS anticipating a post-retirement ministery.

THORNE THINGS: Jim & Pat Thorne's daughter, Sara, has been discharged from her Seattle hospital after surgery. She had a flare up of her kidney problem. She has returned to her nursing job.NICK NEWS: Nick's meeting with TBI this week went well.

MEN's MINISTERY: Dr. Steve Farrar will be speaking at Ellendale Baptist Church Friday 9/7 6:30-10:00 PM & Saturday 9/8 8:30 AM-Noon.

CONCERT OF PRAYER: Last Sunday PM followed by a Congregational Meeting re the pastor search.

RETURN OF THE TRAVELING BAND. DAVID BRUMFIELD & JAMIE HENWOOD were present and accounted for in class. Details of their continental choral touring experience were enjoyed by all.

JOANNE CLARK requests volunteers for STREETS MINISTRIES for the 2007-2008 school year. Evening tutoring as at the Vance Streets location. There is also a daytime tutoring through reading program at Georgia Elementary- usually between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM. RETURN OF THE RONNIE: RCS has reportedly returned from his pastor's conference in the Middle East ostensibly to care for his neglected Hungarian yard.

DESTINATION EVENTS: The entire Klinke Clan recently returned from a "Destination Wedding" in Italy. While there, Patriarch Preston took the family on a tour of the Ligurian coast and Rome. Preston notes "These destination events are something people from all sorts of different backgrounds could enjoy." Preston is suggesting to his Hebrew friends the enchanting prospect of planning a destination Bar/Bat Mitzvah in tropical climes. Herr Klink suggest that "not only is destination important, but entertainment planning as well. JIM THORNE BIRTHDAY BASH: Lifebuilder's responded in force to celebrate Dr. Doktor Jim Thorne's "Three score and ten" at the Dormois Party Pad this past Friday. Smokey meaty treats were grilled and served up to hungry stomachs and hearts by our favorite Pediatric Dental Care Specialist. Better Half Pat Thorne served as Prosecuting Attorney at a mock trial of The Good Doctor. Lancelot Minor, Esq. presided as judge while the class attendees served in the jury. Jim was found guilty as charged for being a "not nice yankee immigrant". He was sentenced to life without parole with Pat.

VISITORS FROM AFAR: Sister of ANNE J OF GALLOWAY, Nancy Bagnoli, was visiting from DC. Former FEC Uber Frau, JA(Y)NE STEPHENS, is in the River City to fawn over her new grandson & "Take care of business" for husband Ronnie here & in Atlanta. She will also be visiting her mother in Virginia who is having health problems. Elder son Seth will be graduating from Moody in Chicago & will possibly be attending Talbot in California.

LIFEBUILDERS IN ACTION: Lifebuilders sponsored the STREETS MINISTRIES End-of-school-year party last Tuesday. Pizza, fruity flavored drinks and ice crème were consumed in large quantities by students, tutors and staff.

CHRIST COMMUNITY CHURCH: The whole of the BERNARDINI CLAN was present in force for this past Tuesday's tutoring session. First Evaners JACK BURGESS AND PROF CHIP HILL along with a host of other tutors were present for a much welcomed sandwich/chip supper. PAT B and company assisted some adventurous young men in a repelling and belaying tutorial from the education building rafters. Tutoring is held Tuesdays weekly at the True Light MB church on Stage Road in Bartlett.

TURKEY TRIALS: Prayer is requested for the safety of FEC mission families currently working Turkey. There was an assassination of missionary staff in Malatya April 13. Please remember the Fraziers in Izmir and Campbells and the reset of the Oasis staff at the Ankyra school.
